Running backs Coach David Serna talks about team and depth in the backfield

Having had an opportunity to talk with Running backs Coach David Serna on Wednesday, much was gathered from this learning experience. Serna has been the Owls (RB) Coach since 2005.

In addition, Coach Serna has served the (RB) Core at the University of Texas at El Paso. Serna Coached for three different seasons with three different bowl appearances.

Count that as the 2000 Humanitarian Bowl (UTEP), the 2007 New Orleans Bowl and the Motor City Bowl in (2008).

When asked Coach Serna about his depth at running back, he said that we move in and out between four (RB) every game. Now that’s a great opportunity for any player choosing FAU.

If we all agree, we should gather from Coach Serna and FAU that they provide opportunities on the ball field and academia, without pretense.

If you can prove your mettle on the football field at FAU, there might just be a chance for you. When asked about the body profile of a running back, Serna talks about prototype.

Under Serna, such running backs like DiIvory Edgecomb, Charles Pierre and Alfred Morris have all succeeded at FAU with a large body type. With the large body type, you’re harder to tackle and you can break tackles.
