FAU fighten’ Owls claim victory at home in Boca versus UALR
January 4, 2011 - Five players scored in double figures for the Owls against the UALR (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) this day. They were: Brett Royster (12), Kore White (22), Raymond Taylor (13), Greg Gantt (16), and Alex Tucker (14).
Royster was stellar in and around the basket for the Owls. He collected 4 blocked shots, had 7 rebounds that added to his 12 points. Raymond Taylor, at the center of this nucleus was perfect from the line, had 3 rebounds and knocked down 3 triples.
“Just be Solid”, Coach Jarvis implored to his team. “We feel like brothers since were all together most of the time” said Ray Taylor. Great Chemistry is something a Coach looks for also. “We feel like we can score at any time,” said Taylor.
Kore White was extra special on this night, broadcast by ESPN 2 live. The leading scorer got his points all from the hardwood. After the game, White mentioned “the Fans” as a primary reason for their success.
White went on to say “they were even with us during the warm-ups,” and that’s a good sign for this nascent basketball team. Kore apologized for UALR that they may have had some problems due to poor match-ups and not being ready defensively.
The third leading scorer on the day was Alex Tucker. Tucker is a cerebral player, and is always looking to draw defenders to him with his excellent ball handling skills. Tucker along with Taylor can handle it versus just about anyone.
Alex mentioned that “the team is a year older and that they are more mature”, and the fact that Kore White arrived from Marshall University to FAU is a great factor for our season. Coach Jarvis went on to say that “White was doing stuff like the drop step and the pivot along with his shooting prowess and defensive alertness.”
Never to be underestimated, a Mike Jarvis team is set to be always ready and reliable in times of need, especially when you are looking for a victory home or away.
“Practice, practice, practice”, said Jarvis about his team’s success. “We have great match-ups on the practice court, which gives us many different looks”, and those words when put together makes for more significance when implored from Jarvis and his Coaching staff.
