Owl’s Baseball takes series from Boston College in three

After hitting a Homerun in the second game of this three game series, FAU’s first baseman Dan Scheffler doubled up his Homerun production with two more today.

During the last two games, Scheffler has hit a combined four for five with seven runs and four RBI.

Add to that Nick DelGuidice who produced two home runs of his own on Saturday, and you may have a Baseball team that not only hits for average, but hits for power too.

On Sunday, DelGuidice went three-for-three, with one run and four RBI.

The Owls defensively are strong as well. Nailing Base runners at the corners and up the middle, Sophomore Catcher Mike Albaladejo is polished and sure behind the plate.

FAU now goes to 5-4 on the season while Boston College drops to just under .500.

As for pitcher Mike Gipson, he is the anchor that stabilizes the defense. In Saturday’s six inning performance, Gipson struck out six and allowed four runs.

Ryan Garton collects the win and goes to 1-0 on this young season.

“We’re real happy with our pitching today, as well as over these last few days. A lot of times what’s very important is pitching and defense.” Said Coach John McCormack.

Following Gipson, Lou Morey (Iron Eagle Award Winner in 2009 and 2010) threw to five Boston College hitters in relief, without allowing a run.

On Sunday, the Owls scored in every inning but four, six and eight. On Saturday and Sunday, right fielder Andy Mee swung the bat for a .400 average.

Colby Gratton, Owls Left fielder went two-for-four with one run and one RBI. Raymond Church also went two-for-four on Sunday

As a team, the Owls went thirteen for-thirty-three, with eleven runs and ten RBI in their last game ending on Sunday.

Saturday’s winning score was 15-6 and Sunday’s was 11-7. FAU’s next opponent is Pittsburgh on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at 2:00 PM at FAU Stadium.
