Owls Baseball fly past FGCU Eagles
April 20, 2010 -- Some wins come easy, some wins make you work & some wins just mean you showed up more than the next guy. Which was the case for FAU on Tuesday?

As with any transition of team and School changes, there is adjustment period for a student-athlete. You can make this case for Taylor Everist in his first year at FAU.
Everist comes in a Junior and will leave a Senior. According to http://fausports.com/, Everist had one of his most successful outings yesterday against the Eagles.
He brings his record to (2-6) on the season, pitched to 17 batters and gave up only 2 runs on 6 hits, 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. The Owls are now 9 games over (.500).
FAU produced three of their four runs in consecutive innings. They came in the third, fourth and fifth. The last was scored in the top of the tenth.
Dan Scheffler continues to produce at a feverish pace. He went (3/5 with 1 run and 1 RBI). Nick DelGuidice went (2/5 with an RBI), and Chase Vergason went (1/3) with a single to right in the 3rd inning eventually bringing him to cross the plate.
Two back-to-back doubles by Cassidy and DelGuidice brought in the second run of the game.
Later, Catcher Mike Albaladejo replaced Catcher Mike Spano & bunted Raymond Church over to 2nd in the 5th. Eventually, Church crossed the plate off a Dan Scheffler double to left field.
In the fifth, Albaledejo caught FGCU’s Stephen Wickens (3/5, 1 run) trying to steal second, putting out any hopes of scoring in that inning for the Eagles. Also Catcher Tim Roberson went (2/5, 1 RBI) and right fielder Luke Smierciak went (1/3, 1 run, 1 walk).
In the 10th and final inning, the Owls were up to manufacturing runs once more, during which time FGCU saw 7 batters at the plate.
FAU collected 11 hits in the contest compared to FGCU’s 9.
