March 9, 2011 -- It was a great day for the Owls of Florida Atlantic University at Patch Reef Park Tennis Center in Boca Raton, Florida today. A clean sweep over SIU, 7-0 was in the plans for this women’s cohesive unit.
Both teams, including the Men each had convincing wins over the visitors of SIU – Edwardsville. The team of Erica Mrazkova and Natasha Basma scored an 8-2 victory over Southern Illinois University first.
Following them was Cassie Bergason and Natasha Phillips who netted a similar victory, 8-2. Justine Humair and Marlene Ryan also scored the final in a best of for FAU this day, with an 8-3 victory in doubles.
Going into singles, FAU had the edge they were looking for and had great match-ups created by Head Coach Marcy Cava.
The Men showed a similar drive, only dropping one singles match on the day. Best for doubles was the team of Abdelnour/Garibovic with an 8-5 victory over the SIU team of Gonzalez/Spicer.

While at this level of competition there is team dynamics and getting your feet wet at the proverbial pool of Professionalism. Inklings of the Pro game become reality with the mind before and after the College ranks.
Watch College Tennis, and watch the future of the game unfold before your eyes. What many say, is that the foundation of the mind often determines the outcome of matches.
Most of the time, what’s created on court can be thought out before the match begins.
If the Tennis player can overcome obstacles through study and focus, a developing mind creates an open ended process from which to dream and explore.
All in all, the day was what FAU ordered on this 2010 - 2011 season. Their next match-up includes a home date with Troy on the 12th of March, a Monday.
