You might say “who is Ray Guy?’ Well, Guy was one of the greatest punters who played his whole career for one team, the Oakland Raiders and Al Davis.

It was incredible to watch Ray Guy punt. One after the other, Guy would average in the 60 yard plus range on each punt. He is also a Hall of Famer, and that’s amazing.

In 2009, Groody earned the Special Teams game ball at Arkansas State. He was also awarded the Special Teams MVP on the year.

In 2007, Groody launched the ball six times in one game with an average of 39.7 yards, the longest being 54 yards.

Groody is a local, and went to St. Thomas High School down the road in Fort Lauderdale, where he kicked for George Smith.

He played in the All-American game and the Dade versus Broward All-Star game. At St. Thomas he was a three sport athlete for Football, Basketball and Baseball.

Punting is a unique Art, much like placekicking. It’s like practicing anything, eventually you gain a greater understanding of it and improvement comes in leaps and bounds.

At the New Orleans Bowl, he punted twice against Memphis with the team collecting the win. In the Bowl, 44 yards was his longest. He also travelled with the team to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl.
