STAMPING THE GAME TICKET TO FLY OWL RED, WHITE AND BLUE WAS FLORIDA ATLANTIC'S VOYAGE INTO THE NIGHT

Saturday, February 5, 2012 - - Coming right out of the blocks was Terri Stamps who found an opening along the right side of the court for a layup. Her command and confidence with the ball shows us this Senior can develop a steely eyed winner take all when it comes to gracing the court.

Michael Jordan used to call it being in the zone, and for Stamps, that zone was close by this night. Terri most likely is the anchor of the team, and she takes this responsibility with great pride and modesty.

With the size the Panthers put on the floor, six players of which are all over six feet tall, you could have figured the Owls were in for an uphill battle. Well as it turns out, that was not the case on this night.

Although one Golden Panther to mention was 6-1, Fanny Hutlassa with 17 points, plus reaching 50% from the field. In addition she had six rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Amongst the players of FIU, you could see the thread of days gone by with plays from the NBA in the 80's, 90's and beyond. The spin move alla Hakeem Olajuwon and follow up were just some prime time plays reflecting back into the history of the game. A sign of respect and modesty were close by.

Rebounding was played to great effect in the game. FAU collected 10 more rebounds than FIU, a function of more than just the taller players making an impact on the boards.

In fact, the first time down the floor, Vivianna Penate, one of the smaller players on the floor collected one and started back to her home side of the basket. Chenise Miller and April Goins each had four rebounds to boot.

DaLita Scott had a nice impact on the game, going 5-7 from the field, and scoring the most points for FAU with thirteen. As it stands today, the Owls are 12-9, and 7-3 inter-conference.

FIU drops to 15-8, and 5-5 in the Sun-Belt. With 7:53 left in the game and FAU only down by one, the team leader Fanni Hutlassa fouled out of the ballgame.

With that missing part for the Golden Panthers, FIU struggled mightily but were unable to overcome the final lead change and the with the winner went with the spoils 51-49 Owls.
