Two points seperated the winner versus ULM Warhawks Basketball 12/19/2010 - At Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe, Louisiana, several factors were of concern for the Warhawks of the University of Louisiana.
What turned out to be their primary concern were the points scored by Raymond Taylor. Taylor poured in 20 this night, followed by sure handed Kore White and Alex Tucker with 12 and 8 respectively.
The largest lead by the Owls over the Warhawks was 16 at 10:37 remaining in the first half. Several times we saw leads of double figures for the Owls this night.
Each of these three players, Alex Tucker, Raymond Taylor and Brett Royster played a minimum 30 minutes each. At 13:53 remaining in the game, the Owls’ Kore White brought the lead back up to double digits with a 10 point margin off a layup.
That would be the largest lead before the come back by the Warhawks.
It was Fabio Riebero who began to chip away at the Owls lead, scoring a layup and cutting the lead to eight points. Finalities were put in place for this next change of hands.
With two tenths of a second remaining, the Warhawks were presented with two free throws in hopes of tying the score. Much like a kicker in Football, Coach Jarvis declared a timeout by icing their first from the charity stripe.
The Warhawks missed the first, and intentionally missed the second producing a margin too tough for a comeback with the shot clock expiring during the rebound.
It just so happens that coming in to the contest, the ULM conversion factor on the free throw line was 66%.
