From the Blustery tundra of the North comes Manhatten College 1/12/2011 - Last night was record breaking for Senior Forward Brett Royster. At 6’8” and 235 pounds, Royster just may have his presence felt at the next level. Royster collected four blocks this night, eclipsing the all-time Sun-Belt record held by Alan Ogg of UAB.
Ten players, including the bench logged minutes for FAU last night. As for Manhattan - they utilized seven players including their bench.
The Owls raced to 12 fast break points. On the opposite side, Manhattan got two off fast breaks and nine from their bench.
Of note, Pablo Bertone was 100% from the field and scored 7 points, plus dished out two assists. Ray Taylor led all assists with three, and collected two rebounds off of the defensive end.
Greg Gantt had another consistent and exceptional night. Aside from leading all scoring with 17 points, he collected 5 rebounds, 2 assists and made three steals.
If I can remember correctly, FAU had seven players to go to last season. The Assistants for the Coach made use of creativity and great timing to circumvent their personnel woes.
It looks like one player this year came from the recruitment trail. Coach Jarvis is in his third season with FAU, and has steadfastly made the winning climb implored to him by Hall of Fame Coach Red Aurbach with 938 career victories and seven NBA titles.
